Saturday is a huge day for two of our young club members.
Fionn O'Giollan and Ciaran Flanagan are both part of the Kildare U2os football team which will play in the All Ireland Final against Sligo at 1:30pm in Breffni Park Cavan.
Fionn is part of the esteemed O'Giollan family in Maynooth! The four brothers Ruadhan, Conchur, Fionn and Oisin are all hugely talented footballers. Fionn will be looking to follow in Ruadhans footsteps and bring a second U20 All Ireland medal back to the house after Ruadhan's All Ireland win in 2018!! Fionn and Conchur were recently part of the Maynooth u23 team which won the 2022 A County Championship in February. The youngest of the four, Oisin is currently part of our minor football squad in Maynooth. We are sure Fergal, Eithne and all the lads will be cheering Fionn on this Saturday!!
Ciaran is an excellent dual player in the club and a great role model for our younger stars. Ciaran's father Shaun has coached Ciaran football from nursery all the way up to the senior football where he is a selector now. Ciaran captained the Maynooth minor footballers to a Division 1 league title in 2021 and was a key player in the u23 2022 A Championship win. Ciaran was captain of the Kildare u20 hurlers this year too, a great achievement to be playing at such a high level in both codes. No doubt that Ciaran's biggest supporters Shaun and Elaine will be cheering Ciaran on from the stands this Saturday!!
We are extremely proud of your achievements lads and everyone in the club would like to wish you the very best of luck on Saturday!!
Up the Lillies!!!
